25 ottobre 2024 – In occasione dell’N Day 2024, momento dedicato alla divisione ad alte prestazioni del brand, Hyundai ha presentato RN24, il “Rolling Lab” di nuova generazione che mostra le potenzialità dei veicoli elettrici ad alte prestazioni del futuro.
“N Day” è un appuntamento annuale che illustra il lavoro continuo di Hyundai N nell’ambito dell’innovazione e il suo impegno – forte anche del know-how maturato nel motorsport – nello sviluppo di tecnologie ad elevate performance e prospettive future. L’N Day celebra i tre pilastri delle alte prestazioni firmate Hyundai N: Corner Rascal, Racetrack Capability e Everyday Sportscar. Questi pilastri sono le fondamenta che riflettono l’obiettivo del brand di creare esperienze di guida stimolanti e coinvolgenti rese possibili solo dalla tecnologia EV.

“Rolling Lab” di ultima generazione, RN24 è la più recente evoluzione di una serie innovativa di veicoli sperimentali che colmano il divario tra la tecnologia del motorsport e i modelli di serie N. Nati con la serie RM (Racing Midship), i “Rolling Lab” – come RN22e e N Vision 74 – funzionano come banco di prova per le tecnologie ad alte prestazioni del futuro. Potenza elevata in un telaio compatto e leggero
Il debutto globale di RN24 illustra la visione di N per il prossimo futuro. Ispirata dal desiderio di inserire il powertrain EV più potente nel pacchetto più piccolo possibile, Hyundai N ha applicato il sistema di potenza da 650 CV di IONIQ 5 N, adatto agli sport motoristici, a un telaio EV compatto ispirato al WRC, dando vita a una vettura elettrica compatta, leggera e agile progettata per gli appassionati.
Questo “Rolling Lab” non è solo un veicolo di prova: è una piattaforma per avviare nuove conversazioni sui veicoli elettrici ad elevate performance di prossima generazione. Riflette lo spirito coraggioso di Hyundai N nel continuare a esplorare nuovi modi per migliorare l’esperienza di guida elettrica, non solo aumentando potenza e velocità, ma anche attraverso un’attenzione meticolosa al coinvolgimento emotivo, alla dinamica di guida e alla precisione.
Il Rolling Lab RN24 è basato su IONIQ 5 N, con un pacco batteria riprogettato che mantiene la capacità di 84 kWh del modello ma con un passo più corto di 340 mm. RN24 ha infatti dimensioni da segmento B, paragonabili alla Hyundai i20 N Rally1 Hybrid attualmente in testa alle classifiche del Mondiale Rally WRC 2024.
Sospensioni ispirate al WRC e tecnologia motorsport
Il telaio di RN24 vanta una configurazione delle sospensioni di nuova concezione derivata dal WRC con ammortizzatori da rally e sottotelai ad alta rigidità.
Questo “Rolling Lab” è dotato dell’avanzato sistema WRC Powertrain Drive Control Logic, che consente ai conducenti di regolare l’output di potenza, la sensibilità dell’accelerazione e della frenata rigenerativa oltre al bilanciamento della potenza utilizzando i pulsanti sul volante. Queste sono tutte funzionalità ispirate alle caratteristiche di controllo presenti sulle vetture Hyundai in gara nel campionato WRC. Inoltre, le prestazioni di raffreddamento della batteria e del motore di RN24 sono garantite dalle modifiche al già capace sistema di IONIQ 5 N, mentre maggiore agilità è ottenuta da una configurazione dello sterzo più rapida e diretta, che offre una risposta al volante simile a quella di un’auto da rally.
Il laboratorio su ruote RN24 è dotato di un sistema audio esterno potenziato, con due altoparlanti laterali che si aggiungono al già noto sistema N Active Sound+ di IONIQ 5 N. Il suono di RN24 è inoltre amplificato dal design del parafango posteriore che funge da cassa di risonanza, creando un sottofondo sonoro migliorato e coinvolgente che arricchisce l’esperienza ad alte prestazioni offerta dal veicolo.
Tra le numerose tecnologie all’avanguardia di RN24, il controllo della coppia “Rally Mode” è un elemento chiave di differenziazione. Come il sistema di trazione integrale di Hyundai N utilizzato sulla i20 N Rally1 nel WRC, questa configurazione aiuta a ottimizzare la distribuzione della coppia su tutte e quattro le ruote. Le prestazioni della meccanica di i20 N Rally1 sono simulate tramite la tecnologia di controllo elettronico della coppia “Rally Mode” di RN24, ottimizzando il sistema in termini di complessità e costi per un’applicazione più realistica nelle future auto di serie.
L’e-Handbrake è un’altra tecnologia ispirata ai 10 anni di storia di Hyundai nel WRC: aiuta a ridurre il peso eliminando la necessità di freni fisici e dell’idraulica relativa utilizzati in precedenza. Hyundai ha recentemente testato questa tecnologia innovativa su una tappa del Rally dell’Europa Centrale del WRC.
RN24 è caratterizzato visivamente dal suo roll-bar a vista estremamente rigido, simile a un esoscheletro. Anch’esso ispirato al WRC, non solo garantisce la sicurezza degli occupanti, ma aumenta anche le prestazioni e la stabilità complessive del veicolo durante le manovre ad alta velocità.
Il ricorso a parti N Performance, come i cerchi forgiati da 19 pollici neri opachi di Elantra N, aggiungono fascino estetico al veicolo e contribuiscono alle sue prestazioni.
