GOLF.GARA. Cho shows his quality with breakthrough victory on Asian Tour
Two years after being part of the Korean team that famously claimed the gold medal at the Asian Games, Wooyoung Cho [main picture] has become a winner on the Asian Tour for the first time after triumphing at the Philippine Golf Championship presented by Philippine Sports Commission today.
He registered a hard-fought victory following stiff resistance from Pavit Tangkamolprasert, beating the Thai by four shots on the unforgiving East Course at Wack Wack Golf & Country Club, in Manila.
Cho, two behind overnight leader Karandeep Kochhar from India at the start of the day, fired a final round five-under-par 67, for a four-round total of 11-under – in the opening event of the season on the Asian Tour.

Il WM Phoenix Open si svolge al TPC Scottsdale (Stadium Course) di Scottsdale, in Arizona, con un montepremi di 9,6 milioni di dollari. Il campo da golf par 71 di 7.261 yard ospiterà il torneo.
Chris Gotterup è in testa al torneo con due colpi di vantaggio dopo un 63 al primo giro su Matt Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick ha fatto bogey nelle ultime due buche della giornata, chiudendo a 65. SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Despite an early-week putter switch, Brooks Koepka will miss the weekend at the WM Phoenix Open in his second event since returning to PGA TOUR competition.
The flatstick remained the anchor for Koepka, who lost approximately 2.4 strokes total to the field for the week, with 2.5 of those coming on the greens. A switch to the same TaylorMade Spider model used by Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy wasn’t enough to punch a ticket to the weekend, as he did last week at the Farmers Insurance Open.
There were signs of encouragement. Koepka gained roughly a stroke putting on Friday, perhaps an indication he is beginning to settle into the new equipment and reacclimate to TOUR green setups. But the progress wasn’t enough to overcome the 3.5 strokes he lost rolling the rock during Thursday’s opening round.

C’era un tocco di nostalgia nel 70 di Jeunghun Wang, due sotto il par, realizzato oggi al Philippine Golf Championship presentato dalla Philippine Sports Commission.
Ciò gli ha permesso di condividere la testa della classifica nel secondo giorno, con cinque sotto il par al Wack Wack Golf & Country Club di Manila, riportando alla mente i ricordi della sua prima apparizione in assoluto nell’Asian Tour proprio qui, 15 anni fa.
Il suo connazionale Wooyoung Cho (70), il thailandese Sarut Vongchaisit (71), leader del primo turno, e l’australiano Travis Smyth (69) hanno lo stesso totale, nell’evento di apertura della stagione dell’Asian Tour.
A un colpo di distanza ci sono il sudafricano Ian Snyman (68) e Marcus Plunkett (70) dagli Stati Uniti.
