Khavish Varadan [main picture] is well within his rights to consider 2026 a breakthrough season so far.

Currently riding high on top of the Asian Development Tour (ADT) Order of Merit, thanks to a win and a pair of second placed finishes, he’s also shown glimpses of his potential on the Asian Tour. He tied for 11th at the Taiwan Glass Taifong Open in May – for his best finish on the Tour.

However, ahead of this week’s Mercuries Taiwan Masters, Malaysia’s rising star is not getting ahead of himself.

“I wouldn’t say breakthrough,” says the 26-year-old, “but I’m just building on every week. You know, I’m not doing anything special. It’s just, you know, the same thing every week. Hopefully the breakthrough will come soon.”

Following on from yesterday’s joint announcement by Augusta National Golf Club and The R&A that the winner of this year’s Link Hong Kong Open will receive an invite to the Masters Tournament in 2027, they have confirmed today he will also earn a place in the starting line-up for The Open next year.

This comes after The R&A announced its full list of tournaments that will form part of their Open Qualifying Series, which will see 19 events played in 15 countries. The 155th Open is scheduled for 11-18 July at St Andrews.

As well as the Link Hong Kong Open, the other Asian Tour tournaments that form part of the list are the New Zealand Open and Kolon Korea Open, which like Hong Kong will receive one invite each, and the Deutsche Bank Singapore Open, which gets two places.

Sul percorso dell’Evian Resort Golf Club, a Evian-les-Bains in Francia, sede dell’Amundi Evian Championship, uno dei major femminili, si svolge dal 22 al 24 settembre la The Amundi Evian Juniors Cup, prestigioso torneo per Under 14 giunto alla 18ª edizione. Tra le ventuno rappresentative nazionali ci sarà anche l’Italia che schiera Samuele Pollastri (Modena), Elia Secomandi (Bergamo l’Albenza), Martina Durbano (I Girasoli) ed Elena Sartori (Madonna di Campiglio), vincitrice quest’anno del Campionato Pulcine e che ha fatto parte della compagine del suo circolo a segno nel Campionato Assoluto a squadre e nel Campionato a squadre U14/Trofeo G. Sabini. Con le azzurre l’allenatore Giovanni Magni e l’allenatrice Lucrezia Colombotto Rosso.

Alessandra Fanali, dopo una grande prestazione, ha concluso al secondo posto con 208 (71 69 68, -8) colpi, alla pari con l’inglese Alice Hewson, il La Sella Open, torneo del Ladies European Tour che ha anticipato di una settimana il Buccellati Ladies Italian Open (Golf Club Milano, 25-27 settembre) e firmato con 206 (68 65 73, -10) dall’inglese Charlotte Heath.

Veronica Zorzi è una delle giocatrici che ha rappresentato un punto di riferimento del golf femminile italiano. Inizia a giocare a golf da giovanissima e a 15 anni entra nella Squadra Nazionale Italiana, con cui conquista numerosi titoli internazionali da dilettante. Veronese, classe 1980, nel 2000 passa al professionismo e dal 2001 gareggia sui principali circuiti internazionali, tra cui il Ladies European Tour – circuito nel quale conquista per due anni consecutivi l’Open di Francia (2005 e 2006) – e l’LPGA Tour. Una lunga carriera, che la vede al vertice del ranking LET per oltre 15 settimane, lungo la quale il Ladies Italian Open, è sempre stato un appuntamento irrinunciabile.
