The leaderboard was upended in the third round of the 2026 Guardian Championship, as Carla Bernat Escuder and Kate Smith-Stroh each caught fire to leapfrog overnight leader Kaleiya Romero before darkness suspended play for the third consecutive day. Bernat Escuder, who entered the day tied for fifth, raced to 6-under through nine holes to take the outright lead at 14-under overall. Smith-Stroh matched her with a 7-under start of her own — the best score of the day — to sit one shot back at 13-under, tied with Romero.
