• Turkey’s ARES Yachts delivers first 62m sailing superyacht

The 62-metre sailing superyacht SIMENA has officially departed the ARES Yachts shipyard and is now en route to Monaco, marking her first Mediterranean season.

SIMENA is scheduled to berth at the Explorer Dock of the Yacht Club de Monaco (YCM) Marina on March 22. Her arrival will form a central feature of the Yacht Club’s Day of Exploration programme and she will remain at the dock on March 23 and 24, participating in several events, including a friendly regatta.

The berth was a natural fit. ARES Yachts and the YCM have long been aligned on matters of technology and responsible seamanship. SIMENA arrives in Monaco as a fully SEA Index-certified yacht, one of the most rigorous environmental benchmarks available for yachts of her size, developed by the YCM and certified by Lloyd’s Register.

Further recognition followed with SIMENA’s nomination for the 6th YCM Explorer Awards by La Belle Classe Superyachts. The ceremony will take place on March 24. Since 2019, the award honours owners and projects that utilise yachts for exploration, scientific research, technological innovation and environmental responsibility.

A modern bluewater ketch

For ARES Yachts, SIMENA is their first step into the 60-metre-plus segment and the Antalya-based shipyard’s most ambitious project to date. Built in a steel-carbon composite construction to RINA Charter Class C requirements, she combines true bluewater capability with refined luxury.

Taka Yacht Design drew the lines with one eye on classic ketch silhouettes and another firmly on performance. The result is a hull that reads as timeless from the dock and purposeful at sea. Interiors by Design Unlimited seamlessly merge tradition and innovation.

The yacht is powered by a hybrid propulsion system offering six different operating modes, optimised for efficiency and performance across a wide range of cruising conditions:

In electric mode, SIMENA allows silent cruising at speeds of up to 8 knots, with a range of 6,000 nautical miles at 7 knots. When operating on diesel power, the yacht reaches a top speed of 14 knots and offers a range of 4,000 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 9 knots. During sea trials, SIMENA achieved 14 knots under sail, with an expected top speed of 16 knots under sail in 20 knots of wind at a 100° wind angle.

Traditional teak decks and varnished sipo mahogany detailing evoke the golden age of sailing, while modern comforts are discreetly integrated throughout. Accommodation is for up to 12 guests and nine crew, with a forward main deck owner’s suite occupying a prime position.

Breaking into the top 25 largest sailing superyachts worldwide, SIMENA embodies performance, elegance and forward-thinking environmental responsibility. These qualities are now set to be showcased on the world stage in Monaco.

SIMENA is exclusively available for sale through Northrop and Johnson. The yacht will remain in the South of France through the end of March with private viewings available to clients and brokers upon request.
