Difficult conditions continued in Garden City, with the top of the leaderboard looking similar to the end of round one. Mirabel Ting holds the top spot with last week’s leader Megha Ganne. Two players sit just a shot behind, with a group of three just two shots back, making for a tight top of the leaderboard.

Ting was off early in the day, posting the number the afternoon wave had to chase and avoiding the afternoon heat. The 2-under 70 from Ting was more interesting than the score would suggest. The 20-year-old put five birdies on the card to go along with a bogey and a double bogey.

Starting the day with back-to-back birdies put her in a good rhythm but she was not able to convert until after the turn. From holes 10-14, she rolled in three birdies, moving the overall total to 10-under. It was short-lived, however, with the hiccup of the round coming on 15, in the form of a double bogey. The 8-under total still gives her a share of the lead as she searches for her second victory of the season.

“I think today overall, starting the first hole, I feel like the distance control kind of matches how I hit on the range this morning,” said Ting. “I was striking the ball pretty well on the range and I wasn’t really worried about my shots in the wind. Just try to fly it down and just get the ball down and I should be fine.”

Ganne went off in the afternoon and knew the number she had to reach. It was a steady day of golf for the Tour’s most recent champion, going bogey-free. Three birdies were sprinkled in throughout the day, resulting in a 3-under 69. Ganne is making just her eighth start of the season but has already found herself inside the top 15 in the Race for the Card with just three more events to play come the end of Sunday, and will draw on her experience from last week to get over the line tomorrow.

“I thought today required like a lot more of a links golf type of mindset and I thought the gusts were a little bit stronger in the afternoon than they were yesterday morning and the greens a lot firmer too,” explained Ganne. “I feel like I would have done a few things differently if I could go back, but happy with the clean card.”

The Final Round will begin at 7:45 a.m. local time with the leaders teeing off hole one.
