Brooke Henderson pulled off one of the most exciting feats last year, winning in front of a home crowd.

The Canadian native won the 2025 CPKC Women’s Open at Mississaugua Golf and Country Club in her home province of Ontario with a 15-under-par final score.  This week, she returns north to defend the title at Royal Mayfair Golf Club in Edmonton, Alberta.

Before the 52nd playing of the CPKC Women’s Open gets underway, here is a look back at Henderson’s home country heroics from last season.

She started the first round with an even-par 71 and turned it around quickly on Friday, carding a 5-under-par 66 to make the weekend.

Moving day saw her improve one stroke, finishing with a 6-under-par 65. She wrapped up the third round tied for the lead after holing out for eagle from the greenside bunker on No. 17.

The “Brooke Brigade” followed faithfully all week long, packing the fairways, greens and tees for Sunday’s final marquee pairing. Henderson was neck-and-neck with Minjee Lee as she hunted down her second Canadian title on the LPGA Tour.

Sunday’s play proved more difficult, but not enough to throw Henderson off. She closed with a 4-under-par 67 to win by one stroke over Lee. Henderson credited her home crowd for fueling her victory.

“It had been a little while since I had won on Tour, so I feel like doing it at home in front of all the crowds and fans that supported me all week was really awesome,” said Henderson.

Now a year later, she defends her title at Royal Mayfair. The LPGA Tour last visited Royal Mayfair in 2013, when Lydia Ko won the title for the second time. Henderson was 15 years old and played in the tournament for the second time.

This time, she brings far more experience, including 14 LPGA Tour titles; two of which are CPKC Women’s Open victories. She also holds two major titles and came close to claiming a third major title just last month at the Amundi Evian Championship.

Henderson recorded a record of six eagles over that tournament, the most ever in an LPGA major. On Sunday, she erased a seven-stroke deficit with a hole-in-one, two more eagles and three birdies to force a playoff against Haeran Ryu, who ultimately won on the extra hole.

Henderson looks to ride the momentum from France, a top-30 finish at the AIG Women’s Open and the home-field adrenaline as she defends her title.

“I’ve been able to really use the energy and the atmosphere of all the fans that come out to support me,” said Henderson. “There is so much love and so much just positive energy from them.”
