Round 1 Player Quotes

Switzerland’s Luca Galliano, 39, leads after the opening round of the 2025 Open International de La Mirabelle d’Or, with a 7 under-par, 63. Galliano got off to a hot start with a birdie on the 3rd hole, an eagle on the 4th, and another birdie on the 5th. He added a fourth birdie on the 8th hole before making the turn with a bogey on the 9th. A birdie streak from holes 10 through 13 pushed him further up the leaderboard, and despite a dropped shot on the 14th, he bounced back with a birdie on the 15th before making a closing bogey on the 18th to sign for his 63. Galliano, who won the season-opening 2025 Ein Bay Open and currently sits 11th in the Order of Merit standings. “I played really well today. I had plenty of birdie chances and managed to convert a lot of them. I’m very happy with my putting and the way I handled my first round,” said Galliano. “Strategy is always important, but being accurate off the tee is even more crucial on this golf course. I’m really looking forward to testing myself again tomorrow. It’s always a great feeling to be in contention and I’m looking forward to the next two rounds.” Commenting on the conditions, he added: “The weather was quite pleasant early on this morning, but from the 8th hole onwards, it got really hot. I think that’s something all of us will have to manage it as best we can as it will affect everyone.”

Ronan Mullarney, 29, from Ireland who captured two titles during the 2023 season, which propelled him to win the Order of Merit and secure his promotion to the HotelPlanner Tour (formerly known as the Challenge Tour) for the 2024 season is in 2nd place after the first round of the 2025 Open International de La Mirabelle d’Or. He shot a bogey-free 6 under-par, 64 with birdies on holes 3, 6, 8, 9,12, and 14. “I was happy with how I played this morning,” said Mullarney“My warm-up wasn’t great, but I settled into the round with a few nice iron shots early on, which helped. Overall, my game is in good shape. It was more of a methodical round today, with no real highs or lows. I was able to take advantage of some of the easier holes and kept it in the short grass which is important here.” Reflecting on his comfort with the host venue, he added: “I played on the Alps Tour in 2023, and a few of the courses are the same, including this one, so that definitely helps. I also think this course really suits my eye.” As for the conditions: “It’s so warm! It helped playing in the morning, but I’ll get a taste of it tomorrow afternoon, it’ll be warm but it’ll be warm for all of us.”

In a 7-way tie for 3rd place with a first-round score of 4 under-par,66: France’s Mathieu Prost and Augustin Holé, and Italy’s Davide BuchiJacopo Vecchi FossaEdoardo GilettaGiovanni Manzoni, and Luca Memeo.
